Congress is resuming talks Friday on Joe Biden’s $3.5 trillion social welfare program, to reach a goal of a House vote on the infrastructure bill.

Senate Republicans blocked a bipartisan commission to study the U.S. Capitol riot on Jan. 6.

Stefanik of New York was elected conference chair, replacing Rep. Liz Cheney, who was ousted from the position Wednesday.

Stefanik told reporters Thursday evening she believes she is “in a strong position going into tomorrow.”
