As Taliban fighters routed Afghan forces at lightning speed, the U.S. retreat raised questions about Joe Biden’s “America is back” foreign policy.

Biden ran for office on a promise to tackle the coronavirus pandemic, a pledge that could determine his administration’s success.

“I just talked to the President-elect of the United States, Joe Biden,” former President Bush said, adding that he extended “warm congratulations.”

“The veracity of the underlying allegations continue to be evaluated,” White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said at a briefing with reporters.

“They’ll be fading out, because now the governors are doing it,” Trump said of his social distancing guidelines on Wednesday.

Kayleigh McEnany will replace White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham, who announced Tuesday she will return to the East Wing as chief of staff to the first lady.
